best kitchens worktops

Whats the best kitchen worktops? Kitchens are the social hub of your home. It is crucial to get it right. Gra-Knight only offers the highest quality materials. Selecting the right material will take your living space from a house to a home. Here is more information on different materials and why we think they are the right materials for your kitchen.

Best Kitchen Worktops?

Granite

Why is Granite one of the best kitchen worktops? Granite worktops are extremely low maintenance. They are sealed at our yard and will not need sealing for around a decade. Cleaning is also extremely easy, simply warm soapy water and buff it off with a tea towel. Granite is scratch resistant but as it is such a hard material it will blunt your knife (we still recommend a chopping board). Granite is a beautiful, stylish, and luxurious material.

Quartz

Why are Quartz one of the best kitchen worktops? Quartz is much like Granite. It is extremely low maintenance. Cleaning simply requires warm soapy water and a tea towel. If you have any stubborn stains Cif cream works wonders. Because Quartz is an engineered stone, it is partially made up of resin, this acts as a sealer. You do not need to seal quartz and never will. As it is engineered it also comes in a huge range of colours, but many keep the natural look of natural stone.

Cermaics

Why are Ceramics one of the best kitchen worktops? Ceramics are one of the newest stones to come to the worktop market. Ceramics are extremely durable and easy to maintain. Like the other stones maintenance is as simple as warm soapy water and a tea towel. Ceramics are also heat and moister resistant. They do not require any sort of sealant. Ceramics are designed to look and feel like marble, but at a fraction of the price. The downfall is Ceramics are not full bodied, meaning that the edges are a solid colour to match the top, but will not have veins. Ceramics also come in thinner sizes than Granites.

Marble

We do not recommend Marble for your kitchen worktops. It is the softest of the stones we offer. Marble is some of the most beautiful stone you can find. Marble should be used in place other than the kitchen. Bathrooms and fireplaces are a much better option.

Hard Wood

Because of woods natural characteristics it will expand and contract. It will also be highly affected by steam. It will also soak up water, causing it to swell. Wood can also scratch very easily and become stained. If you get wood in your kitchen, it will also require a lot of maintenance. sealing can happen as much as Bi-annually.

Laminates

Laminates are very durable and robust. They don’t need sealing and little to no maintenance. They are cheap but lack a lot of quality. How they look and feel is reflected in the price. They just miss that finale touch that stone has.
